'Today I fell out of love with the GAME!'
A goalkeeper has said he has 'fallen out of love' with football after he was sent off for confronting a fan who allegedly urinated in his water bottle.
The incident came in the 61st minute of the tie at Warrington Town's home ground Cantilever Park. It caused a lengthy stoppage in the second round fixture - which saw Warrington knocked out of the FA Trophy - which ended while players confronted fans behind the goal. The referee eventually decided to show Thompson a red card and the fan who had urinated in his drinking bottle was thrown out. The keeper took to social media after the game to tell of his outrage.
Guiseley eventually got the winning goal in the 90th minute through Lewis Whitham, but Warrington boss Mark Beesley was more furious about the incident involving the fan than the result. Matlock Town sent their support to Thompson after the game, commenting on his tweet: "We stand with you Tony.
