Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk extends mask mandate after the state recorded an alarming surge in COVID-19 case numbers.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced new mask requirements for cinemas, theatres and hospitality staff in response to the growing outbreak.
"We know in hospitality, people go around from table to table, we also have that full protection yet because we don't have the boosters," Ms Palaszczuk told reporters on Wednesday."We don't want to have all our cafes and restaurants going down because of the Omicron variant. It's very practical, sensible. I'm sure Queenslanders will respond positively to this move as we go into Christmas and New Years.
Chief Health Officer John Gerrard said it's"not surprising" cases are rising rapidly due to the highly infectious Omicron variant.
