Tyson Fury will face former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in a boxing match on Oct. 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Top Rank announced Tuesday. It is unclear how many rounds the match will be or whether Fury’s WBC belt will be on the line.

Fans from both sports constantly have the “baddest man alive” debate and this is one way to resolve that. Fury is arguably the best heavyweight boxer in the world and Ngannou has that title on the MMA side despite Jon Jones’ late success in the division. The other — and likely the most important reason — is obviously money. This crossover event will bring unthinkable quantities for both fighters, particularly Ngannou. His last fight against Ciryl Gane had a purse of $600,000.

Ngannou left the organization in May for the PFL, a promotion that had no issues letting him take side pursuits. His major risk worked out as he’ll have the opportunity to box and get paid handsomely before returning to the cage., for example — and could put Fury away with one punch. But many said the same thing about Wilder, who has infinitely more experience in the ring than Ngannou, and Fury won both of those bouts.

Fury will be the more technical fighter and possess the advantage in nearly every facet on fight night. Part of me worries this will be similar to Floyd Mayweather toying with McGregor in 2017, but that one-shot KO power of Ngannou will have fans thinking he has a chance. If Fury takes this seriously, I expect him to cruise.“As soon as that bell goes, it’ll be bombs away!” Fury said in a release.
