The future of Australian Fashion Week is in doubt after long-time owner IMG announced they will no longer stage the annual event.
Australian Fashion Week is reportedly in danger of cancellation after the event’s long-time owner IMG announced they will no longer stage the annual shows.
Event owner IMG confirmed to the Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesday that the US-based company will no longer host fashion shows in Australia.“The event has played a key role in ushering the industry forward,” the managing director of IMG Fashion Events Asia Pacific Natalie Xenita said. Founded in 1996, Australian Fashion Week has been credited with launching Aussie brands, such as Alex Perry, Zimmermann, Collette Dinnigan and Dion Lee to international recognition.
In 2016, local label Misha Collection reportedly spent an eye-watering $400,000 to fly out international Supermodel Bella Hadid for their runway show.
