The Galaxy faced a lot of challenges this season and weren’t able to overcome them, eventually finishing in 13th place and missing the playoffs.
LA Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney roams the sideline during the second half of an MLS soccer match against Real Salt Lake at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023. The match ended in a daw 2-2. In the end, he summed it up probably as best as any one with the Galaxy could.
“It was embarrassing,” Galaxy defender Maya Yoshida said. “We need to come back, full of energy, ready to fight for the season.” “It was one of those years where it was bracketed into different types of seasons throughout one season,” defender Eriq Zavaleta said. “With the tough start, you put yourself behind the 8-ball right away, it’s pretty difficult to have success in this league.
“To not make the playoffs is embarrassing,” defender Raheem Edwards said. “It’s a feeling that you don’t like. You look back at key moments of the season and obviously, you like to have some things back, but it’s the nature of this sport and you use it as fuel for the next year.” The roster rebuild, doesn’t figure to be extensive, but it could be. Vanney said the club would like to sign Tyler Boyd to a new contract. Boyd, one of the bright spots, joined the Galaxy in the off-season and played in every game .
“Today another chapter of my career closes,” Costa said in an Instagram post. “The Galaxy and I reached an agreement to no longer be together.”
