A 34-year-old man was arrested Friday morning after pointing a handgun at Garland police officers, according to authorities. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded about 5:25 a.m. to a residence in the 4000 block of Chinaberry Drive, near Lyons Road north of Ablon Park. Police said a man called 911 and made “threatening statements” that he was ready to die and would shoot at responding officers.Authorities said officers formed a perimeter around the location before the man, identified as 34-year-old Jeremy Hines, came out of the home with a handgun.Police said officers attempted to speak with Hines to de-escalate the encounter.
