A Gary man is facing an attempted murder charge for shooting a man outside a home.
Kevontay S. Staples, 23, was also charged Sept. 22 with aggravated battery, battery by means of a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, criminal recklessness and dealing in marijuana.He is in custody, being held without bail. His bail is scheduled to be reset to $10,000 cash surety on Oct. 10. His next court appearance is Oct. 3.
Staples told police on Sept. 18 that he just got back with a friend from the store when he saw a man wearing black walking up the block on the 3900 block of Louisiana Street.
