Gates closed at Notts restaurant as diners unable to make contact

Mystery surrounds why the gates are closed at one of Nottingham's grandest venues. at Lakeside, a restaurant, bar and wedding venue, off the A60 near Arnold.

Dan Russell, 33, of Giltbrook, has been trying to book a table in the restaurant to use a £100 gift voucher he was given for Christmas. Mr Russell said: "We have been several times before and always had a good time so we were given pre-paid vouchers for Christmas as a present and have been trying to book sporadically since the start of January."We can't get through to anyone on the phone and the social media accounts are dormant.

The site, which boasts a stunning waterside terrace and fountain, underwent a multi-million pound refurbishment in 2017. It changed hands in 2021 in a £1.5m deal and had a further £7m revamp both inside and out. A mum who took her child for breakfast with Santa said it was a "let down" despite the beautiful building. "Cold food and a freezing room... not worth the £50+ for 2 adults and a child."
