MTV bosses have rubbished claims that the reality series Geordie Shore has been given the chop after nearly 12 years.
Geordie ShoreThe popular reality series – which kicked off in May 2011 – generated notable names in the industry including the likes of I’m A Celebrity winner Vicky Pattison, Charlotte Crosby and Gaz Beadle.‘The already commissioned series, which is the show’s 24th, will go ahead with filming kicking off this weekend and the reunion will go ahead as planned later this summer.’: ‘Geordie Shore has not been cancelled and continues to be one of MTV’s biggest shows.
The original cast included Charlotte, Gaz, Vicky, Jay Gardner, Holly Hagan, James Tindale, Greg Lake and Sophie Kasaei.When the programme first premiered it was met with huge backlash after viewers accused the show of glorifying binge-drinking. Despite the controversy, the series proved to be a hit with fans and sparked several spin-offs including All Star Shore and the reunion shows
Some cast members including Vicky and Charlotte have secured major brand deals following their stint on the show.The 35-year-old was crowned the Queen of the Jungle in 2015 and was determined to change the public’s perception of her after quitting Geordie Shore in 2014.The reunion series had been due to start filming in 2020 for the 10-year anniversary of the show, but had to be postponed several times due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
