Conservative attorney George Conway encouraged President Donald Trump’s closest aides in the West Wing to resign, specifically swiping at White House counsel Pat Cipollone for his response to House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry.
The remarks from Conway, a vocal Trump critic and the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, came during a rare interview for the latest episode of Bharara’s podcast, which published Thursday. Deflecting a potential query about his wife’s role in the administration, Conway told Bharara: “Not going there. But I think my position is clear.”
“Given that your inquiry lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the Executive Branch cannot be expected to participate in it,” Cipollone wrote to the Democratic lawmakers.
