George RR Martin addressed Alicent's fourth child that's currently missing from HouseOfTheDragon 'Their youngest son Daeron is down in Oldtown, we just did not have the time to work him in this season.'
Fantasy author George R.R. Martin addresses Alicent's fourth child being missing in House of the Dragon. The HBO series serves as a prequel to Game of Thrones, based on Martin's novel Fire and Blood. The series has taken on the ambitious task of chronicling the Dance of Dragons, a name used to refer to the civil war that marked the beginning of the end of the Targaryen dynasty.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The time jumps, though disorienting for some viewers, have led the audience to see fated rivals Alicent and Rhaenyra grow up and have children of their own, who have in turn grown up in the almost two decades that the series has covered thus far. Both Rhaenyra and Alicent's children will be significant players in the battles to come, since the conflict over succession after King Viserys' death will have consequences for all of them.
"And YES, Alicent gave Viserys four children, three sons and a daughter, their youngest son Daeron is down in Oldtown, we just did not have the time to work him in this season." Will Daeron Targaryen Be In House Of The Dragon Season 2? Martin's comments equate Daeron's story in House of the Dragon to his story in the source material, though the fantasy author didn't specify whether he is in Oldtown for the same reasons. In the novel, Daeron spent time in Oldtown as a squire for Lord Ormund Hightower, his grandfather Otto's nephew.
However, the series has already made changes from the books , so it's possible that the series will update Daeron's role in the Dance of Dragons, leading to either more screen time for him or less moving forward depending on the direction the showrunners decide to take.
