COBB COUNTY, Georgia — A Georgia sheriff resigned from his job Monday after he pleaded guilty to criminal charges accusing him of groping a TV judge last year in a hotel bar.. He stepped down from the job after pleading guilty in Cobb County State Court to a misdemeanor charge of sexual battery. He was sentenced to a year of probation.
According to Hatchett, she was introduced to Coody in the hotel’s bar. She said she wasn’t sure where his county was located in Georgia. She said Coody pointed a finger at her chest and said “In the heart of Georgia.” “He so violated me and at that moment I felt so powerless,” Hatchett tells the AP. “I see myself as a strong woman. I have never been a victim and I felt it was important for there to be accountability.”
“For the governor’s office to issue a statement saying they weren’t going to do anything because he was not on duty is obscene and ludacris,” Hatchett tells WGXA.
