A man has a nasty gash on his head after he was attacked with a garden tool in a beachside town four hours north of Perth . The 24-year-old, reportedly a German backpacker, was confronted by a group of males wearing face coverings at a toilet block on Kempton St in Bluff Point, Geraldton, about 10.40pm on Monday. They demanded he hand over his valuables and threatened him, police said. “The victim refused and was physically assaulted before being struck with the gardening tool,” police said.
“It is believed the group of males may have been in the Beresford and Bluff Point areas in the time before and after the incident,” police said. Locals have been asked to review their home CCTV to check if any of their garden tools have been stolen. In a separate incident 400km south of Geraldton, a man was slashed during a brawl at Perth Concert Hall on Sunday. Reports of an incident involving two groups of people inside the St Georges Tce venue were made to police about 9.30pm.
