Stray German shepherd found wandering the streets has been homeless for over a year
A German shepherd who was found roaming the streets last summer is patiently waiting for a new family in Manchester. Zeus arrived at Manchester Dogs’ Home in August 2021, and was ‘very scared’ when he was first rescued by the team.
The dogs’ name comes from Greek mythology, with Zeus being the sky and thunder God, who ruled as the king of gods of Mount Olympus.Initially, the terrified dog displayed his fear by barking at volunteers. A spokesperson for the charity said: “Over time, once he realised he was safe, he grew confident around some of the staff members. In order to build up his trust, Zeus may need potential adopters to commit to several visits here at the home before the adoption can take place.
Manchester Dogs’ Home added: “Moving forward, although his behaviour with other dogs is improving, Zeus will require ongoing training and socialisation with other dogs as he does bark and lunge when he sees them.
