"I have been working for days to get rid of the vaccine shortage," Mr Lauterbach told public broadcaster AFD.The announcement comes as Germany battles a surge in cases that has pushedREAD MORE:Earlier this month,from accessing all but the most essential businesses, such as supermarkets and pharmacies, as part of new restrictions to curb the spread of the virus.
Yet the percentage of fully vaccinated residents has remained at just under 70 percent for weeks. Few people are receiving their first vaccination, with the majority of vaccinations now booster shots.
