“I tried to keep things fairly consistent, because I was getting bad looks from people around me about fiddling with equipment too much. I gave it a fair crack and sometimes you know it’s just not right,” he said. Quizzed as to whether the reason he decided to change shafts while recording reasonable results in 2016 was because he was a professional golfer, Scott said; “Correct answer.”

The Kiwi recorded a 3-over 75 on Thursday but is delighted to be at Troon with his family after his world was turned upside down by a cancer diagnosis.
