GM Joe Schoen pulled off the maneuver by converting some of Jones' base salary into a signing bonus.
Schoen was asked about the Giants’ cap situation and the possibility of restructuring deals last week.
Jones’ cap hits will now be $15.4 million for this season, $47.1 million for next season, $41.6 million for 2025 and $58.6 million for 2026. The restructuring of Jones’ current deal, which included an $82 million signing bonus, created a $4.21 million increase in dead money if they cut him after next season. The dead money on his original deal was $18 million if he was cut after the 2024 season and it is now $22.21 million.
