The Giants and Swifts are set to face off in the first all NSW Super Netball final, but the cost of relocation has put a massive dent in their bottom lines | sarah_keoghan SMHsport

Netball NSW chief executive Tain Drinkwater has revealed COVID-19 has robbed NSW clubs of almost $1 million in 2021.to tee up the first ever all-NSW Super Netball grand final against the Swifts on August 28.

An all-NSW grand final at the 10,500 capacity Homebush venue would have almost certainly been a sell-out, with the Swifts’ first home game alone of 2021 pulling in 6000 fans. On top of that financial blow, the eight Super Netball teams and Netball Australia made the call to split any relocation costs for 2021 nine ways. Most clubs budgeted for a game here or there to be moved. Instead, the Giants and Swifts were forced to move states four times within a month to keep the competition alive.
