Denise James, 42, and her daughter were involved in a three-vehicle crash in Freehold Township on Thursday.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the girl’s death but didn’t provide her name. Aestablished to raise money for her two brothers who survived the crash identifies the 3-year-old as Lily James.
Her mother — Denise James, 42, of the Waretown section of Ocean Township — was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Thursday. The crash took place around 5 p.m. when a 53-year-old Little Egg Harbor Township man driving a pickup truck southbound on Siloam Road near Old Turkey Swamp Road in Freehold Township crossed into the oncoming lane, authorities said. The pickup truck and struck a northbound SUV with a “glancing blow,” then collided head-on with a minivan driven by James, authorities said.The pickup driver and the SUV driver — a 34-year-old Jackson man — remained at the scene, officials said.
James’ husband is Lt. Craig James, a correctional officer, the GoFundMe page organized by the New Jersey Superior Officers Law Enforcement Association says.
