BREAKING: Astrud Gilberto, best known for singing Girl From Ipanema, has died at the age of 83.
The musician is best known for singing Girl From Ipanema, penned by composer Antonio Carlos Kobin and poet Vinicius de Moraes and transformed into English by Norman Gimbel.He announced his mother had died on June 5, however did not reveal her cause of death.
Gilberto shot to fame in 1963 when she sang the English words on Girl From Ipanema, which went on to become world famous.
