Despite record ticket sales and massive viewing figures for the Matilda’s opening match, Channel 7 will only be airing 15 out of 64 matches of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Similar to the 2019 tournament in France, Optus Sport once again have full media rights to the showpiece tournament and are streaming all 64 World Cup matches live.
Broadcaster Channel 7 signed on to broadcast the Matildas’ games and a handful of other matches, but that agreement covers just 15 games out of a total of 64 matches. The deal meant Australians could live stream the two matches from the opening day, two quarterfinals, both semi-finals, the final and all of the Matildas' games through the 7 Plus app.
