Two of Glasgow Clan's sponsors have suspended deals with the ice hockey team following a crisis-laden week in which a player accused of rape was signed, and then dropped, from the club.
He said: "Writing this is something I never dreamed I would be doing as I sit here with my family all absolutely heartbroken. Like all of you I am a hockey fan and a fan of the Glasgow Clan. According to Mr Strange, Clan commercial manager Gerry McLaughlin has resigned in the wake of the Uusivirta scandal. The Record has approached Glasgow Clan for confirmation of his departure and further comment.
"Our intention is to make the hockey community as a whole a place that people and families feel respected and safe. We want nothing more than to get back to the arena to give the players and staff the support that they deserve."Clan fans have been asking the club for greater transparency over how it conducted its investigation into Uusivirta's signing.
