Hospitality businesses have missed out on an evening of trade thanks to a burst water main
Pubs and restaurants across Glasgow were left with no option but to close after a burst main left around 100,000 properties without water. Businesses missed out on a night of trading with supplies down across much of the city following the incident on Auchenhowie Road, Milngavie.
Italian restaurant Sarti, based on Bath Street, said they were just one of many businesses with a G2 postcode left with no water and unable to open their doors. Nearby whisky and ale pub The Pot Still said they had "no option but to close" and would reassess the situation in the morning. Although the Ovo Hydro was able to go ahead with the Lewis Calpadi concert this evening despite issues, other venues have had to cancel. Old Sea Brigade's sold out gig at The Hug and Pint has had to be postponed.
Gyms have not been left unaffected by issues too, as Nuffield Health Glasgow West End said their premises on Minerva Way in Finnieston had to be closed. Top news stories today A Scottish Water spokeswoman said: “This is a major burst which is impacting a lot of our customers and we want to reassure them we are working as quickly as possible to carry out this repair and restore supplies. We apologise to all customers affected for the inconvenience and disruption.
