Glasgow's newest nursery will be officially opened this week after a £5.1m building project.
Victoria Road Nursery, formed from the merger of Cuthbertson Primary’s nursery class and the formerThe new building, which sits in the grounds of Cuthbertson Primary, includes covered outdoor play areas and zero carbon technologies., Communities and Equalities, will be performing the official opening on Friday, January 20.
She said: “It will be lovely for the children, families and staff to come together to celebrate the new nursery, which is providing the local community with flexible learning and teaching in a bright, innovative and modern building that is also reducing carbon emissions too.“This is achieved using low and zero carbon generating technologies including air source heat pump and photovoltaic arrays.
“I am delighted to join the families on the day. This nursery is one of four new-builds across the city created to support the roll out of the Scottish Government’s 1140 hours early learning and childcare expansion plans.”Councillor Cannon added: “This is a wonderful new building for the local area but it is the children and staff now and in the future that will see Victoria Road Nursery flourish and shine.
