A paper on the disposal of the land will be brought before members of the contracts and property committee later this week and is expected to be approved. Officials have recommended disposal of the land to the university is granted, saying the benefits include the area being used for public realm, the roads being pedestrianised and providing a safer environment for students and members of the public and a cost saving to the council, as a result of the removal of the ‘maintenance burden’.
