A yeast spread sold at supermarkets in WA and SA is being recalled after the product — Spring Gully's 'gluten-free' OzeMite spread — was found to contain gluten.

abc.net.au/news/spring-gully-recalls-ozemite-because-of-gluten-presence/102175656An Australian food manufacturer has issued a recall of a popular yeast spread because of the presence of gluten in the product, which is advertised as "gluten free".

Spring Gully's OzeMite spread is sold at supermarkets in South Australia and Western Australia in 175-gram quantities. A recall notice issued by Food Standards Australia New Zealand said customers who have a gluten allergy "may have a reaction if the product is consumed".It said anyone who had bought product that was marked as "Best Before 28/04/25" should return it to where they purchased it from.

The product has been sold at Woolworths outlets in SA and WA, as well as Drakes Supermarkets, and independent food retailers including IGA in SA. "Consumers who have a gluten allergy or intolerance should not consume this product and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund," FSANZ said.
