Melbourne City goalkeeper Tom Glover received several stitches in hospital overnight after being the victim of “ugly behaviour” from fans in last night’s A-League derby, according to Sky News Reporter Holly Edwards-Smith.
Last night’s derby between Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory was abandoned after fans stormed the pitch and attacked Glover with a bin.
Football Australia announced an investigation into the incident would commence immediately, with strong sanctions to be handed down. “This has really been a day in Australian football that hasn’t been seen before,” Ms Edwards-Smith said. “Many people have been taking to social media with their distaste for those fans who decided to partake in this particularly ugly behaviour yesterday.”
