Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’s title is a sign that a real Titan War is finally headed for the MonsterVerse. Given the multitude of Titans that exist in Godzilla and Kong’s cinematic world, there was some expectation that a monster war of epic proportions would unfold in the 2021 movie. Early marketing teased a “monster war” happening on the surface of the Earth, but no additional Titans wound up joining the fight between Godzilla and Kong.

That said, it is known that the film will be introducing at least one more Titan to the MonsterVerse library. A seemingly evil member of the Kong species is shaping up to be the “world-ending threat” teased by the film’s synopsis.
Godzilla vs. Kong 2’s Title Makes Multiple Titans Likely The title chosen for the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel creates the impression that this new monster won’t be facing them without help. The words “New Empire” hint at the introduction of an invading force of Titans. When considering both the footage shown in the teaser trailer and the title, it can be presumed that the head of the sequel’s “new empire” is this new version of Kong.
Why Godzilla vs. Kong Couldn’t Have A Titan War Due to the fact that the MonsterVerse’s Earth is rich with Titans, an all-out monster war has been on the table since King of the Monsters, but not something that actually made sense until after Godzilla vs. Kong. There wasn’t any setup for Kong to have allies of his own, which is partially why it was for the best that his fight Godzilla be a one-on-one showdown.
