Boxing: IBF middleweight king Janibek Alimkhanuly has been branded a 'disgrace' and threatened by New Zealand's Andrei Mikhailovich.
"I'm going to f***ing kill you" | 00:47One of the world’s greatest fighters has had to be separated from his animated Auckland rival, who shouted “I’m going to f***ing kill you” during a chaotic press conference at Fox Sports Australia’s Sydney HQ.
The undefeated Kiwi also branded his rival’s heavyweight manager Egis Klimas – who has been voted among the 10 most influential people in boxing -- “cookie monster” before then igniting a slanging match with Janibek’s sibling while live on air. Much of the tension stems from the fact the pair were initially supposed to fight a Las Vegas blockbuster in July, however Janibek withdrew at the 11th hour after collapsing and requiring hospitalisation during the weight cut.
It meant the Australians chose both the venue and date, for which there was a window, while also choosing to contest only Janibek’s IBF strap.Under IBF rules, both fighters must first hit the scales under the middleweight limit of 160 points at 12 noon on Thursday – and then come within 10 pounds of that weight again on Friday morning.

Good luck.Throughout the press conference Janibek said little and refused to be drawn into any of the jawing. Instead, it was his brother who pleaded for respect to be shown.
