A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after being shot when police attended a welfare check at Coomera.

A man is in a serious condition after being shot by police on the Gold Coast this afternoon.

Authorities were called to a welfare check at a home at Bellagio Crescent, Coomera, just before 3:30pm, where they were confronted by a 29-year-old man allegedly brandishing a knife.He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.More to come.
