She leaves a shopping centre and stumbles across a shallow creek behind the complex. It’s the last time Monique is seen. Her distraught sister remembers the chilling phone call.

These are the words Sheena “Minnie” Clubb hears when she picks up the phone as a 16-year-old at school in Hervey Bay in 2013.Minnie’s world shatters as she tries to make sense of it.“I was shaken up. I was like, no, it can’t be, because the last phone call I’d had with her was her saying she’d be home soon and then she told other family members, like my brother, he had the same phone call.

“Despite the search and rescue co-ordinators coming to the conclusion that Ms Clubb was not in the park soon after the searches commenced, the police investigation failed, at that time and when further CCTV footage and relevant transport records were available, to concentrate on ascertaining her next movements,” Ms Bentley wrote in her findings following the inquest last week.

The family of missing woman Monique Clubb : Jeffrey, Mickey, Minnie, Monique’s mother Sheena McBride, Timothy and Jack Clubb. Minnie says the doctor shopping was not that unusual for her sister, and one scenario her family consider is that she was harmed for the drugs because of their high street value.

Minnie recalls her mother, Sheena, talking to the group, who told the family Clubb had ended up going her own way.“We were like, ‘Where’s my sister? You said she was coming home with you guys’. Like, you don’t go down to Brisbane, unless you know you have a way of coming back – it’s three hours away,” Minnie says.
