Can a newcomer beat the established leader in folding phones? Google's first gen Pixel Fold meets the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in an epic clash of the folding phone titans...
Pixel Fold might have a totally different aspect ratio than the Galaxy Fold
But apart from this one compromise, these are very well built devices. Both are expected to feature a glass and metal construction, a standard these days, but what's extraordinary for foldable phones is that both of them actually have a water protection rating, so they are at least somewhat protected from the elements.

You get 12GB of RAM in even the base model, and storage starts at 256GB, which is good enough for most users.
We also don't know much about the software support for the Pixel Fold. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is getting 4 years of major software updates and 5 years of security updates. Pixel phones traditionally only get 3 years of updates, but will users accept this on an ultra-premium $1,700 phone? When it comes to the camera system, both Samsung and Google have a reputation for making excellent camera phones.
