Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz won’t face any charges in the Department of Justice’s years-long federal sex trafficking probe, his office revealed Wednesday.
“The Department of Justice has confirmed to Congressman Gaetz’s attorneys that their investigation has concluded and that he will not be charged with any crimes,” the Florida Republican’s office told The Post in a statement.
DOJ officials started reaching out to witnesses in the case on Wednesday to notify them of the decision not to prosecute the 40-year-old congressman, a source familiar with the matterThe probe, which started back in 2020, was based on Gaetz’s alleged relationship with a 17-year-old girl and whether he paid for her to travel across state lines for sex several years earlier.The Justice Department hasn’t yet commented on its decision to drop the case.
