Political strategist Ana Navarro-Cárdenas tweeted that any successful woman of color 'has had to work harder, longer' and deal regularly with such comments like Republican Sen. Roger Wicker's.
President Biden vowed to nominate the first Black female to the Supreme Court, saying it was"long overdue."WASHINGTON – Republican Sen. Roger Wicker drew outrage from the White House, a member of his own party and beyond for a comment that compares President Joe Biden’s pledge to nominate a Black woman to the U.S. Supreme Court to affirmative action.
Republican colleague Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina sharply disagreed with that viewpoint, saying he's in favor of"making the court more like America." Biden’s vow to nominate the first Black woman to the high court to replace retiring Associate Justice Stephen Breyer “is in line with the best traditions of both parties and our nation," White House spokesperson Andrew Bates responded in a statement Saturday.
Bates pointed out that in 2020, Wicker himself expressed hope that the most recent nominee to the high court – former President Donald Trump's nomination of Amy Coney Barrett – would serve as"an inspiration" to his five granddaughters. that any successful woman of color "has had to work harder, longer" and deal regularly with such comments like Wicker's.
