The firebrand Georgia congresswoman came to Franklin County to reinforce to MAGA Republicans that, despite a poor showing statewide in 2022, their movement has national strength and needs Pennsylvanians to stay in the fight.
Greene was a key ally of McCarthy’s in his bid to win the Speakership this winter, and she has now landed an appointment on a key House committees that, with the new Republican majority, has promised investigations into Biden family business dealings and the pandemic.
But she also lamented the treatment of “political prisoners” like Jacob Chansley, one of the most public faces of the riots, whom she argued was unfairly prosecuted for, in her view, lawfully exercising his right to political protest. She won her race in 2020, which Greene said she undertook specifically to help Trump achieve his agenda, and was deeply disappointed when she didn’t get that chance.
“No matter what, you’ve got to keep that hope. You have to keep the faith. And no matter who you support in the presidential primary, we have to stand up for what’s happening to President Trump because if it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone and they’ve proved that to us,” Greene said.“The reason why we’re seeing people like President Trump constantly persecuted is because he wants to fight the deep state, and he’s got a list of names that nobody knows about.
