NRL heavyweight Phil Gould is reportedly considering a new role, which could alter the entire landscape of the sport. NRL
Gould will likely apply to become an accredited NRL player manager at the next round of intakes in April.
He’s one of the most respected figures in the sport, having coached State of Origin teams and held several powerful roles with Penrith, before leaving the Panthers last year.He was most recently employed by St George Illawarra to review the club’s football operations. It was speculated Gould could join another NRL club in a powerful operations role, but he’s reportedly set to go down the unexpected path of player managing.Player agents have been under the microscope recently and the NRL cancelled the accreditation of Gavin Orr a couple of months ago, as well as putting a number of other agents on notice.The report claims Gould has already started building a team of people to employ in his new business venture.
