It comes after it was revealed in a leaked document that the Solomon Islands were in discussions with China to allow military forces to be stationed in the Pacific nation. “We are important partners for the Solomon Islands as they are important partners for us,” Mr Frydenberg told Sky News Australia. “The Prime Minister and I and the rest of the national security committee and indeed the government are very concerned about these reports about China extending their influence in the Solomon Islands.”
