Liberal MP Jason Falinski says the government’s policy on coal is “sub-optimal”.

“We want a position globally where energy is not emitting or emits very low level of carbon if any at all,” Mr Falinski told Sky News Australia.

Mr Falinski, however, said if Australian coal was taken out of the global mix, emissions would increase.“If we stopped supplying that into the global supply chain, then what you end up with is very high sulphur, low calorific brown coal from places like Indonesia.“That we move to a combination of renewable energy, hydrogen and in other parts of the world definitely nuclear reactors.”
