ByGovernment insiders have been forced to deny a Cabinet split has emerged over plans to bring forward the rise in retirement age.is due to be published in the coming months which will look at whether the current timetable for when someone can retire is fair.reported that ministers had already privately decided to bring forward plans to increase retirement age to 68 by 2030, despite the review not yet being complete.
A DWP source suggested Chancellor Jeremy Hunt was in favour of bringing the age change forward – potentially announcing it as early as his March Budget – in order to save Treasury money. A source close to the Chancellor insisted Mr Hunt was on the same page as Mr Stride. They said it was pure speculation and said the statutory review had not yet been completed.
