Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says the government might have lots of good ideas but possibly won’t be able to afford them.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has addressed parliament, delivering the economic outlook for Australia after it was revealed inflation hit 6.1 per cent.

“The one thing that I got out of that was that Jim Chalmers, he said it a few times, and he said not every good idea can be funded,” Mr Greenwood told Sky News Australia. “And that gives you a little bit of a reading at least that the government might have lots of good ideas, but they might not be able to afford them in the way in which he’s trying to set the budget.”
