Peter Dutton has accused the government of “playing politics” with national security as he expresses community concern over the repatriated families of former Islamic State fighters.
Four women and 13 children arrived in Sydney last weekend after the government announced it would repatriate them from the al-Roj Syrian camp – where they had been living since the fall of Islamic State in 2019.

Offer ends 31 October, 2023 “I think Australians are rightly asking the spot on questions that need to be asked. Why, if there’s no problem and the government’s happy with the decision they’ve made, are they waiting until after the election in Victoria to take people to Victoria,” he told 2GB.
“I don’t think you can underestimate the level of anxiety and concern that communities have got,” he told reporters.
