NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has said the government will consider imposing further restrictions for 'high-risk' activities as part of its coronavirus suppression strategy | LisaVisentin
As the outbreak connected to the Crossroads Hotel grew to 34 cases on Wednesday, Ms Berejiklian said that elimination of the virus within NSW was "very unrealistic"."[W]hilst we would all love to adopt a policy of elimination it's, I think, unrealistic to assume we would get there – in fact, very unrealistic. Suppression is definitely the right strategy for a population the size of ours.
"The Australian goal is very clear. We've been trying to drive towards zero cases," Mr Hunt said on Wednesday. Ms Berejiklian said the fact that some NSW residents would continue to disregard public health orders and social distancing measures meant elimination was not a viable strategy.
