Local 4100 of the University Professionals of Illinois filed its 10-day notice of intent to strike with the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board, according to the union and the Illinois Federation of Teachers.

Teachers and staff have been working under the terms of a previous contract that lapsed in August and the local said a strike vote came last week afterThe Illinois Federation of Teachers said 85% of local members took part in a strike authorization vote and 190 members voted to strike if no agreement is reached, while six opposed the move.
