Former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has accused the Coalition of being "held to ransom by climate deniers". Appearing on ABC's Q&A program on Monday, Mr Turnbull said the government was not acting on global warming because there was a group within the party which denied its existence.

"The Coalition has a fundamental problem with dealing with climate change because there is a group within the Liberal and National parties who deny the reality of climate change and will oppose to the point of essentially blowing up a government - my government in this case” Mr Turnbull said. “People are treating, on the right, what should be a question of physics, science, economics and engineering as though it was an issue of religion and belief and it’s nuts.
