Emergency alerts for a massive fire burning in Victoria’s Grampian National Park have been downgraded to a 'Watch and Act' as the spread of flames begins to slow.
“The spread of the bushfire in the Grampians National Park has slowed however, continues to burn in an easterly direction. Winds are expected to be west-south-west over the coming days,” an alert from VicEmergency reads.The bushfire in the Grampians National Park is producing a significant amount of smoke , Smoke is moving across the west of the state as a result of strong winds.
Boxing Day brought dangerous and challenging conditions for Victorian firefighters, with extreme heat and wind exacerbating the fire. Sheds, outbuildings, water tanks, and livestock have been lost, but authorities are not aware of homes burned as of yet.
