The forecast is fortunately set to be brighter than the rainy conditions that have battered Merseyside today
The world's most famous race meeting gets started on Thursday when thousands will descend on Aintree. Racegoers will have been disheartened as they looked outside today to see Liverpool battered by torrential rainfall.
Anyone donning their finest glad rags for the event will hope the conditions settle when they enjoy their day at the races. Fortunately, the Met Office do predict the weather will improve from Thursday - Saturday.The outlook for the North West said: "Wind and rain on Wednesday night should give way to a brighter, breezy day on Thursday. Thereafter it will stay breezy with patchy rain, although with warm sunny spells too.
On Thursday, conditions are expected to remain dry throughout the racing before light rain arrives later on. Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 15C as the forecast added: "Overcast changing to light rain by early evening."Sunshine is finally expected to arrive on the day of the big race as the forecast for Saturday said: "Cloudy changing to sunny by lunchtime." However, the present forecast said there is a 40% chance of a light shower at 4pm.
