Seen as an effective communicator on the airwaves, Grant Shapps had been serving as Energy Secretary, and has previously held a number of senior Cabinet positions
A number of names had been suggested as his possible replacement alongside Mr Shapps,Mr Shapps, who was serving as Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, has been promoted into the role at a crucial time due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
He briefly held the role of Home Secretary under Liz Truss’s short-lived Government, and has also served as Transport Secretary and Conservative Party co-chairman. Prior to entering politics, he was founded the PrintHouse Corporation which was a print design and website creation company.
