About 60,000 runners will follow the Great North Run route from Newcastle to South Shields.
Thousands of people are about to embark upon the 42nd Great North Run.
The race in 2020 had to be cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic and changes were made to the event in 2021 to allow for social distancing.Organisers The Great Run Company said about 60,000 runners will be following theby Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.Sara Davies, comedian Lee Ridley, who lives in Newcastle, and Emmerdale stars Laura Norton and Isabel Hodgins are among the celebrities taking part.
