A lack of veterinarians in Bunbury has forced clinics to rethink the way they deliver services for pet owners.
Dr Braden Collins says he has come close to having to cut his clinic's on-call services due to vet shortage s.Three local vet clinics across Greater Bunbury will share on-call services during the week as the region struggles to retain staff.
Eaton Vet Clinic's Dr Braden Collins told the ABC the situation is no longer about being competitors with other local vets, but simply about being colleagues. But due to the resignation of a veterinarian in September, that clinic, as well as one in Dalyellup, was forced to scale back its after-hours service during the week.
Findings included issues with long work hours, low salaries and struggles with providing after-hours care in rural and regional areas.
