Controversial Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe has doubled down on her previous criticism of the Australian flag, saying it 'represents so much trauma for so many people'.
Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe has doubled down on her attacks on the Australian flag which she said represents"dispossession, massacre and genocide" and causes"so much trauma" to First Nations people.
“You heard from Senator Price about not speaking on behalf of 700,000 people, well I agree with that, but it doesn’t mean that we can all come and have a group hug under a flag that represents dispossession, massacre and genocide.” “The colonial project came here and murdered our people well I’m sorry that we’re not happy about that,” she said.
Speaking to Sky News Australia on Thursday Ms Price labelled Ms Thorpe the “naughty kid in the classroom”. “I don’t want to talk about a flag either I think that the flag gives an opportunity for this country to have a conversation that they’ve been avoiding for 240 years,” she said.
